ABOUTMOONRAKERS

WHO WE ARE

What is MOONRAKERS?

Can a single piece of fabric
lighten a midsummer afternoon?

Can a single voice
set a distant sewing machine in motion?

Can we
change the vast world?

We turn questions that have no answer yet
into clothes.

Worn in the city,
washed,
well-loved—the feelings surrounding these clothes will resonate in the next piece we create.

Dreams cannot be proven with words alone.

That is why we
keep on creating.

To prove our dreams, one garment at a time.

ADVANCED MATERIALS

What Are Advanced Materials?

Extreme heat, sudden downpours, more time on the move, and increasingly casual ways of dressing.
The world around us is changing faster than ever.
Amid these changes, we kept hearing the same request:
“We want our clothes to evolve, too.”
MOONRAKERS uses Japan’s advanced technologies to answer that call.
We seek out technologies developed by Japanese materials companies, consider how they can improve everyday life, and turn them into clothing.
From technology to clothing. From clothing to everyday life.
Each of our material brands offers a different answer.

TECHNOLOGY

Cutting-edge materials featuring Japan's world-class technology

PRODUCT

Design and production of clothing for everyday use.

LIFE

Transforming daily life: from heat, sweat, and rain, to laundry and travel.

INDUSTRY

Connecting consumers directly with manufacturing.

Is the Japanese apparel industry dead?

Is the light of the Japanese apparel industry fading away?

The "lost thirty years" have devastated Japan’s garment industry.
Once accounting for nearly half of the market, Japanese-made clothing has plummeted to just 1.1%.
If this continues, the very option of manufacturing clothes in Japan may be lost forever.

Percentage of Japanese-made products1.1%

Made in Japan: approx. 40 million units
Made overseas: approx. 3.7 billion units
Ratio of Japanese-made: 1.1%

However, we do not accept that as the future.
Because MOONRAKERS has linked Japan's advanced technology to the evolution of clothing, we will also carry the manufacturing sites that support that technology into the future.
Not to reject overseas production, but to ensure that the option of "made in Japan" remains.
Connecting materials, sewing, and the consumer once again.
MOONRAKERS accepts that responsibility.

HOW WE WORK

How it works

M∞N CLUSTER
A network connecting every stage—from materials, spinning, weaving and knitting to dyeing and sewing—with MOONRAKERS and our users, so that their feedback shapes what we make.

MOONRAKERS brings together Japan’s exceptional materials, weaving, knitting, dyeing, and sewing technologies to deliver finished garments to users, shaping the future by directly connecting their feedback to the manufacturing floor.

MOON∞CLUSTER is an initiative aimed at transcending the boundaries of manufacturing by connecting the apparel industry, retailers, and consumers—creating a new industry that enriches everyone involved.

By connecting creators and expanding that circle to include users, we aim to unite Japan’s textile industry into one great team. MOONRAKERS will serve as the hub for this movement, forging a new future for garment manufacturing in Japan.

FOUNDER

Representative's Message

Makoto Nishida, Representative Director, MOONRAKERS

Japan still possesses technologies that can surprise the world.

I believe this to be true.

Materials, weaving and knitting, dyeing, and sewing.
Japan’s textile industry holds world-class technologies honed over many years.

However, no matter how superior a technology may be, if it does not reach the people who use it, it will not survive into the future.

Incredible technology remains unknown.
The value of factories with advanced capabilities is not fully conveyed.

That is exactly why MOONRAKERS was born.

To make Japan’s cutting-edge technology something you can experience in your everyday life.

Extreme heat, concerns about sweat, heavy rain, the stress of laundry.
To change the small frustrations of daily life, little by little, through the power of technology.

And to connect the voices of the people who wear these clothes directly to the factory floor.

For creators and users to dream of the same ideals.
We believe that is what will carry Japanese manufacturing forward into the future.

We do not wish to return to the past.
Nor do we wish to deny overseas production.

We want to create a future where Japanese manufacturing continues to remain a valuable option.

To achieve that, simply protecting it is not enough to ensure its survival.
Technology, the industry, and the very form of clothing must continue to evolve with the times.

Perhaps a single garment cannot change an entire industry.
Even so, change begins with one garment.

When the person who wears that garment feels joy, that voice reaches the creator, and from there, new technologies and work are born.
We want to spread this virtuous cycle throughout Japan and across the world.

We are changing the future of Japanese manufacturing, one garment at a time.
And one day, clothing born from Japanese technology will make daily life just a little bit richer for people all over the world.

That is the future that MOONRAKERS is seriously aiming for.
